ÖkoKauf Wien

ProjectNetWorld® being used for "ÖkoKauf Wien"

„ÖkoKaufWien“is a program*) initiated by the City of Vienna in 1998 to purchase eco-friendly products, materials and services. Within the scope of this program, the City of Vienna is required to plan and implement its entire procurement chain – from cleaning materials to the handling of construction projects, from waste management to the vehicle fleet – according to ecological principles. "ÖkoKauf Wien" comprises approx. 250 experts who are organized into 22 specialized work groups from all public authorities and institutions whose departments are responsible for a procurement volume of EUR 5 billion.

The initiative has been noticed beyond the borders of Austria – not just for being an environmental role model reflected in numerous prizes and awards, but also for being a model organization at the administrative and project level.

*) Note: A program is a group of projects that are linked together and/or that follow one unified strategic objective.

ProjectNetWorld®

Project management decided to implement ProjectNetWorld® to coordinate the various work groups and project members, and to keep the administrative effort as low as possible: this web-based project management software offers an easy-to-use, standardized work interface that unifies transparent workflows, the management of project-related information and documents (including automatic revision), role systems, backup functions and much more. All of this ensures uniform and efficient communication flows as well as a comparatively uncomplicated information and document management system – decisive advantages when faced with the complexity of a program like "ÖkoKauf Wien."

OSR DI Ekkehard Philipp ("ÖkoKauf Wien" program):

"Project management as a methodical function has been implemented successfully in my team for many years now. ProjectNetWorld® supports this by providing a structured bundling and overview of all project information."

The basic principle of "simplicity" is also valid for the implementation, which requires no software installation. The only user requirement for using ProjectNetWorld® is Internet access. This results in a lower training effort that can be taken over by selected project members after a short period of time. In addition, the modular design of the software enables the greatest amount of customization to project and/or customer requirements – thus you can ensure that users only find project-related content.

The maximum cost transparency is extremely significant for public authorities: With ProjectNetWorld® the software is not purchased as a license, but rather leased as a time-dependent service only for the application duration and dependent on the number of individual projects and corresponding users. This also includes permanent availability and maintenance as well as continual software development always taking the highest security standards into account as well as the scalability of the system regarding the number of projects and employees.

Summary

Modern project management does not have to be limited to a private company. It is also becoming more and more significant for the public sector. This is because the challenge here is not just to coordinate numerous project teams and employees, but also to do it in the most efficient way possible with regards to communications and work processes.

As the successful cooperation with "ÖkoKauf Wien" proves, a freely scalable and easy-to-use system like ProjectNetWorld® meets these requirements in an exemplary manner.
